Hi, my name is max i am an artist from Naarm (also known as melbourne). I love to draw and create music and write and build worlds. A lot of my artistic drive comes from intuition and a need to express something, so check out my art if you want to understand me best :) as you may have seen from my homepage i have animations and films and drawings and tattoos and writing and a couple of different music projects.
I am very much in love with DIY artwork. I love things that are independant and flawed and rough around the edges, I love simple tools and self driven approaches and expressive work that feels real and human. I believe in art as a practice and as an expression of self and i don't care for it as an object that can be comodified and sold. I really hate gatekeeping aswell so if you are interested in how I do what i do, please send me an email, i love sharing resourses!! fuck gatekeeping. Everyone deserves to create. I'm always interested in conversation or diolog or connection in terms of creation so if you want to get in touch please do. I created this website because I have been feeling increasingly frustraited with social media and the current internet landscape. It seems like every person i know is unhappy with how much they are on instagram or other scroll based social medias, but so many people just accept that it is the only way that things can be. I really really reject that. Especially as artists we should have agency over where our art lives, yet we feel forced to tirelessly create content for a casino style ad farm that exists solely to hold our engagement and give money to people who already have far too much money.
I am very excited about this website because along with being a place to post and archive my art, I can use it as a place to express my thoughts and feelings. I would love to write more extensively on the subjects of technology and artistic expression and artist owned spaces, but I will keep it short for now. I encourage anyone to create their own website, it feels so freeing and using neocities makes it very accessible. If you arn't sure what neocities is or why it exists, i reccomend reading the about page and this blog post written by its founder.
my focus right now is on supporting ethical movements and making connections while creating cool art and further building the worlds i have created in my mind. I would love to foster better web communities, especially with artists who are local to me. If you are interested in doing a similar thing, please get in touch, maybe we could link our websites or something! and more people could make connections! without an algorithm! horray! wouldn't that be nice.
